Trek Rules
General rules
1. Cell phones are not allowed on Trek for youth. Please leave all cell phones or screens at home unless you are a leader. Cell phones should be used by leaders only for picture taking, navigation while driving, reading scriptures, or sharing spiritual thoughts. There is none to minimal cell service at our trek location.
2. Wear period pioneer clothing each day. Bonnets are not required. A good wide brim hat is recommended for the sun. Material that is light and breathes well is preferred to help with the heat.
3. Follow all direction from leaders and strive to be obedient.
4. Be kind to all those you interact with. Bullying will not be tolerated.
Campground Rules
1. Fires are only allowed in existing fire rings with adult supervision. Fires only allowed if there are no state fire restrictions. We will know before we leave if there are fire restrictions.
2. Fireworks of any kind are STRICTLY prohibited.
3. No firearms are permitted.
4. No feeding, capturing, or chasing wildlife.
5. No pets are permitted.
6. Quiet time is between 10 pm and 6 am.
7. All garbage must be packed out. No littering!
8. We will be practicing no trace camping. The camping facility must look as good or better when we leave as when we came.
9. Do not climb on rocks, fences, or gates.
10. Do not wash within 50 feet of water sources. Any kind of washing – Including dishes, clothes, hair, or feet – must be done far away from water wells to avoid polluting sources of drinking water.
11. Males and Females must not sleep in immediate proximity to each other or share tents. Only married couples can sleep in the same tent. When staying in tents, youth may not stay in the same tent as an adult unless (1) the adult is his or her parent or guardian, or (2) there are at least two adults in the tent who are the same gender as the youth.
Trail Rules
1. Use handcarts appropriately. Do not run with handcarts. Gently place the handle down when stopping handcarts. Just be careful with them.
2. Do not stand, ride, or sit on the handcarts.
3. Be considerate of other people on the trail.
4. Do not feed, capture, or chase wildlife.
5. Do not climb on rocks, fences, or gates.
6. Use only the provided restroom facilities, except in emergencies. Porta potties are located along the trail.
7. No motorized vehicles on the trail.
8. It’s required that you stay on the trail throughout the trek experience.
9. Do not move, cut, or remove any natural materials.
Handcarts Safety Rules
1. Treat handcarts with care; pull or push them by hand. Do not pull handcarts behind vehicles.
2. Try to balance your load.
3. Do not run with the handcart–Trekkers can easily trip and get run over by the wheels.
4. When stopping the handcart, slowly lower the yoke until it rests on the ground. Never drop the yoke, always set it onto the ground gently.
5. Do not sit or stand on the yoke when it is resting on the ground.
6. Stay away from the wheels. Some clothing, especially dresses, can get caught in the wheels.
7. Handcarts should not be overloaded. They are designed to hold the gear for only 10 people, including clothing, sleeping bags, tarps, cooking equipment, and water. The total weight should not be over 400 pounds.
8. No one should ride on the cart when it is fully loaded.
9. Turn handcarts backwards when going down steep slopes to prevent someone from being run over.
10. When stopping on a hill, place a rock or some other object behind the wheels so that the handcart does not roll backwards.
11. You will be expected to help pay for damaged handcarts if you neglect to follow the rules, or use the handcarts carelessly.
